Towards a better understanding of the degradation mechanisms of Li-ion full cells using Si/C composites as anode

Carbon-coated silicon nanoparticles (40 nm diameter) were used to prepare pitch-based Si/C composites with different Si contents and a pitch graphite-based Si/C/Gr composite. These prepared by pyrolysis at 900 °C of pitch/Si mixture obtained from the dispersion particles in solution THF. The as-prepared delivered high coulombic efficiencies first cycle (83–86%) stable reversible capacities (560–650 mAh g−1) versus lithium. anodes degradation phenomena while cycling NMC622 full cell configuration studied simple electrochemical tests such as analysing harvested electrodes half-cells vs. clear improvement on performances due graphite addition was demonstrated suppression active particle's disconnection. composite proven accommodate well volume expansion deliver capacity 650 g−1 rate C/5.
